What’s good for stinky feet?
No more smelly feet
So,you’ve got or someone else has smelly feet and you need some answers on how to put a stop to it. My role as the resident family foot massager brings me into regular contact with whiffy tootsies so I’m in the know on what helps.The reason that feet smell is down to the bacteria that feeds on sweat. The bacteria takes the form of organic acids and it’s function is to get rid of the waste matter on the feet. All wonderful body functions but these acids are unfortunately strong and pungent and therefore make the feet smell. So, for feet to be sweet smelling like the rest of you there are some simple tips to add to the daily routine to get feet healthy and happy.
Let’s face it, you just want to be able to take your shoes off without everyones eyes watering and running for cover.
Here’s what I recommend to people who want foot rubs from me:
Wash your feet daily with a Tea tree wash or soap( anti-bacterial) and dry them thoroughly before putting socks on.
Spray feet with natural foot solutions or powders to neutralize odour
Wear cotton socks as they are much cooler and more absorbent.
Go barefoot where you can.
Try to rotate shoes to help air them out.
Foot baths with a few tablespoons of vinegar
Regular massage with natural foot creams to help circulation.
Drink plenty of water (8 glasses per day) to help flush out toxins quickly
Try a zinc supplement to help support the immune system.
Include plenty of coriander and flat leaf parsley in the diet as they may help absorb body odours.

Burt's bees Foot Creme
I first tried this foot creme when I went home to Canada six years ago. My younger sister had discovered Burt’s Bees a few months earlier and had a tube at the ready to give me a foot rub after the long plane journey. The coconut, rosemary and peppermint oils were the perfect antidote to my flying feet syndrome (when they’re all swollen, sore and dry ). She gave my feet a little warm water soak first and then slathered on this amazing cream. Instantly revitalised and my feet felt so, so soft! She chucked a pair of cotton socks on me to help keep in the moisture and to stop me slipping all over the place and sent me off for a nap. When I came to I was ready to enjoy my holiday and my feet were worthy of wearing my strappy sandals once again. Awesome stuff.
We ended up giving alot of foot rubs using Burt’sBees to family and friends that vacation and earned loads of brownie points. It’s a foot creme that gives and receives.

New Weleda Soothing Almond
I’ve always been selective about what I use on my skin with regards to keeping it au naturel and I totally enjoy using skincare products that I know and trust to be free from all the junky chemicals some brands use. But since I hit an early menopause at 41( and oh yes it’s been an experience!) my skin has become sensitive. Prickly and blotchy,I felt like I looked permanently agitated. Hormones,huh! I started giving facials as gifts to my friends and family out of sheer desperation. Trudging through run down town centres trying to secure a “special” present for people who have everything they need and want was becoming depressing. Not one to succumb to feelings of frustration I started thinking outside the box. What did I have that they may like?
